Designed to complement the Parenting After Separation program, you are invited to attend another FREE 3-hour workshop that assists separating and divorcing families with their finances.

The goals of this workshop are to assist people in understanding how to address the financial issues connected with separating; and how to develop business-like strategies for dealing with these issues, both immediately and for the long term. The workshop includes information about the following topics:

  • communicating with your ex about finances

  • understanding child support and special or extraordinary expenses

  • understanding spousal support

  • property/asset division issues, including pension division

  • income tax implications

  • dealing with debt issues

  • types of court orders and agreements

  • useful resources and self-assessment tools
NOTE: Thanks to the United Way workshop participants have the option of consulting with a Certified Financial Planner specializing in separation/divorce for a fee of $25. (Fee provides up to two hours of consultation).
